Travel Writing Stories
Hello, my name is Paul Fleming
I am a Tasmanian photographer and writer, known for my flair for captivating travel and visual-storytelling photography and quality engaging writing.
I love to complement my images with creative stories that draw people in to become part of the journey; welcoming them as equals, not just a viewer.
My passion for Tasmania’s wild places was nurtured from a very young age, alongside a keen eye for photography; school holidays were spent on long bushwalks with my family, including completing the Overland Track at just nine years of age, and the South Coast Track at 11. My appreciation of those experiences has grown stronger over time, with a rich respect for my parents and their dedication to protecting the island for future generations.
With an Honours’ degree in Tourism and expertise in government and public sectors of the visitor economy, I combine my academic and working career with my creative passions of photography and writing.
I am well-regarded for my knowledge of the island and presenting its charms and stories on the world stage, notably through my social media channels.
I have worked with local, state and national tourism organisations across Australia and overseas to showcase destinations and experiences, as well as research, branding and marketing in the tourism industry; though it is Tasmania that fuels my soul and where I am based.
My Tasmanian photography book PAUSE represents my first foray into sharing my writing and images with a broader community beyond social media; taking my work ‘offline’ is an important direction to be taking, and one I am excited to invite to join me in.
I have lived in Hobart with my husband Justin for the past ten years, along with our four fur children.
